These guideline amounts are a starting point and your puppy may need more food depending upon age, activity, and temperament. In order to reach optimal body condition, you may need to adjust food intake. This represents the total recommended volume of food per day. You should divide the total recommended feeding amount by the number of times you feed your puppy per day to get the actual portion size per feeding.

Remember to have clean, fresh water available for your puppy at all times.

This formula is recommended for pregnant and nursing dogs.

During the last three weeks of gestation, increase feeding amounts by 25 to 50%. During lactation, feed as much as she wants (usually two to five times the guideline amount, depending on litter size).

Because IAMS Puppy Small Breed is complete and balanced, you do not need to add vitamin or mineral supplements.

When introducing IAMS Puppy food, gradually mix it with your puppy's current food over the course of 4 days.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor Packaging I agree with abbysmom regarding the packaging. It is almost impossible to read the amounts to feed my puppy. The food itself is well accepted. She does love it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too much corn and by-products Although my giant breed puppy seems to like this dry food and the recommended serving sizes are half that of the Smartblend dry food we previously used, I can't see myself sticking to this formula based on the extremely high amounts of corn and corn derivatives and chicken by-products. Also the fat % is too high in this formula. It shouldn't be more than 9% for giant breeds and this one is 14%. What would be the explanation for such a high amount of corn and by-products? What nutritional benefit could this provide? Dogs have never eaten corn in their natural diet. Ever. Not even a little bit. Modern science is proving that corn should never be in a dogs diet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from iams puppy chicken dry food! My 9 week old puppy loves it!! She gets excited every time it's ''din dinns'' !! She has had more solid poops to since being on iams!! People have told me not to feed her iams but we have noticed that she is staring to put weight on and is becoming a little porker and she isn't consapated anymore!! Best food weve tried so far and yet so cheap!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for puppies My 8 week old miniature schnauzer was having very loose stools with the cheap food the breeder recommended us to give. I bought this IAMS and by the second feeding his stool was a lot better. No upset stomach and no loose stools. Highly recommend this food.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cannot Read Packaging_Poor Colors Please change the coloring on the package. I could not read white letters on yellow bag. I had to pull the ingredients up on the internet. When transitioning my puppy to IAMS Smart Puppy the first night, she picked through the old food to eat only IAMS. She loved it and the size is perfect for my Yorkie-Chon.
