Kitten Food

Kittens are constantly growing and developing. They can double or even triple in size in just a few months. This rapid growth requires a lot of energy and nutrients, so it’s essential to feed your kitten a diet specifically formulated for their needs. 

We designed our IAMS™ Kitten Food to provide the necessary protein, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients for healthy growth and development. 

Compared to adult cat food, our kitten food: 

Generally, kittens are ready for adult cat food around their first birthday. However, this may vary depending on your kitten’s growth and development. 

It’s best to consult your veterinarian for specific recommendations. 

At the IAMS™ Brand, we offer both wet and dry kitten food options. We formulated both with all the necessary nutrients for healthy growth and development, so you can confidently choose the one that works best for you and your kitten. 

Dry food is convenient and often more affordable per serving. It also helps promote healthy teeth by reducing plaque and tartar as your kitten chews. Additionally, our dry kibble contains prebiotics and beet pulp to support digestive health. 

Wet food has a higher moisture content, which can aid in hydration. Our wet kitten food is also grain-free* and made in the USA with the world’s finest ingredients. 

Since wet and dry kitten food have some different benefits, many pet parents feed a combination to get the best of both worlds. Just be sure to adjust the amount of food to ensure your growing kitten gets the calories they need to thrive without overeating.

Your kitten’s stomach is tiny! They can’t eat much in one sitting, so they must eat frequently throughout the day. 

Generally, you should feed a kitten anywhere from 3-4 times a day, depending on what you’re feeding them, they’re about six months old.

Your kitten’s diet should be based on age, weight, and activity level. Read the feeding guidelines on your kitten food and use that as a starting point. Each type of food may have different instructions, so it’s important to follow the specific recommendations.

If you choose to feed dry kibble, kittens only need ⅓ to ½ cup of our PROACTIVE HEALTH™ HEALTHY KITTEN(open in new tab) food per day, based on their weight. 

But no matter what kitten food you’re using, monitor your kitten’s weight and body condition and adjust the amount of food accordingly.
